I love the look of the new rooms at Melbourne’s new Royal Children’s Hospital. I remember reading an article where the architects mentioned their desire to be kid-friendly without the disney ick factor. I think they succeeded.
And how good’s the sunshine! Love it. Healthcare design is so hot right now.

Yay. The perfect Sunday news; new PIN-UP’s Berlin Special :) So hot off the press it’s still sizzling! Can’t wait to see what’s inside.
P.S British people really don’t know about BBQs! hmmmm I think some snags may be heading the way of the AA terrace….
But they do know about “Oi mate, chuck another shrimp on the barby” hehe even better was the look on my Finnish friend’s face when I told him that taking a U-turn while driving was to “chuck a U-ie” god knows how that’s spelt.
…you’re going to have to learn how to say g’day

Oh man how did I miss this? Oh, just for some more information on him;
André Balazs Properties owns and operates eight hotels in the US, including properties in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. His residential projects include 40 Mercer Residences in Soho, designed by architect Jean Nouvel; One Kenmare Square with Richard Gluckman and William Beaver House designed by Calvin Tsao.
And he’s responsible for the enigma that is, the Chateau Marmont. Whatever. You can watch him climbing on tables and stuff here.
See Arktip magazines for issues with types like Andre, Supreme and Colette… So expensive and so Sold Out.

There’s everything to love about Acne Paper 13 themed The Body.
From the Louis Bourgeois-clad opening pages (of artworks currently in an exhibition at the Freud Museum in London*- Sigmund Freud that is, as Bourgeois was in therapy for 30 years! Father issues she says…) to some very chic clowns and some beautiful nudes by Bill Durgin who I’m going to pretend I’ve heard of. Preview the issue here

*Which we only visited as it was around the corner from this baby.

As deadlines loom, so too does the compulsion to post. So here I am :)
As we’ve all heard, pop-up is the name of the game, but this time it’s turned to hotels.
This is the San Giorgio in Mykonos by Design Hotels and opens today! :) Their last project was in Mexico, called the Papaya Playa and I’m sensing a massive Andre Balazs influence. Balazs being the one who oh so long ago set up shop in a Jean Prouve Maison Tropical - a pre-fab house designed by Prouve for British colonialists who’d been sent to Africa ! :)

OHWOW New York Minute Exhibition, OHWOW shop New York and Miami
Still nothing beats The Standard in Miami with its sea-side bath tubs and wishbone chair-decked breakfast room. Not to meantion the cutest little beach shop by OHWOW (designed by super-eccentric/memphis-feel architecture firm Architecture at Large).
A winning recipe.
Be sure to check out OHWOW gallery to keep up with the cool kids in NYC :)

Behind the scenes at House of Tautz. Looks more like a smoky Jak&Jil photo session :)
Mmmm a suit and a bike packet of crisps, the perfect medley, ‘kinda like Carrie in the Oscar de la Renta dress eating McDonalds in Sex and the City. Perfecto :)
Getting precariously close to your hunting domain again … Ooooo. Via FM (not the one in Italy)

Media is the new gravity - Brett Steele, Director AA
In response to a recent student architecture jury at school. If only I had counted how many times the phrases ‘connected’ ‘social media’ and ‘democratisation of knowledge’ were dropped, I’m sure ‘sharing’ was in there too.
Reminds me of this excellent piece in Bloomberg Business week on how to startup a [insert new social media frenzy];
Fill in the blanks :)
